Description
WORK TOWARD BECOMING A REGISTERED PLAY THERAPIST
DESCRIPTION
This friendly and welcoming small group training is for therapists, counselors, social workers, and other providers who are interested in learning how to apply directive and nondirective play techniques in working with children, youth and families. This training provides an integrative approach to play therapy using lecture, video, demonstrations, roleplay and practice exercises.
The training is broken into two parts. The morning session includes a review of play therapy basics (modalities, materials, cultural considerations, and contraindications) and non-directive play. The afternoon session reviews directive play modalities and interventions. The overall goal for this training is to provide participants with as much introductory information as possible in order to provide effective play based interventions for their clients.
Training will be in-person and limited to 6 participants. The ratio of participants to workshop leader is small to ensure opportunity to address individual questions, concerns and discussion.
